I don’t know what the deal is with prequels..but it looks like we’re going to get a Blade Runner prequel of sorts.

Why I say of sorts – is because Purefold – a new effort by Ridley and Tony Scott – will be set in the same ‘universe’ as Blade Runner – just a few years prior.

Purefold will be made up of a bunch of short (5-10 minutes) webisodes all revolving around the central theme of what it is to be human.

The really neat part is that the content of the short movies is all open – under a creative commons license – so anyone can mash it up and make something else with it.

The Scott’s are also soliciting contributions though FriendFeed– though i don’t understand how that works, it looks like a total mess to me now.

Hiya, we’ll be explaining how we use Friendfeed over the next few weeks. There will be explanations, demos, API use, from the blog and the wiki.

Spend sometime playing with Friendfeed – it’s a very smart tool, from API to GUI. The interconnected play between IM, Email, notifiers all through the API allows us to connect to many communication systems to create the storytelling. Most people will be passive – for those wanting to deep dive, Friendfeed will give you lots of fun.

Just to clarify also, the story starts a few years ahead of now, and heads towards the year 2019.

Of course, Scott’s circle-jerk fans will be pleased—
