Finally the frakking nightmare is over and SyFy has put Caprica out of its misery.
“We appreciate all the support the fans have shown for ‘Caprica’ and are very proud of the producers, cast, writers and the rest of the amazing team that has been committed to this fine series,” said Mark Stern, executive vice president of original programming at SyFy, in a statement. “Unfortunately, despite its obvious quality, ‘Caprica’ has not been able to build the audience necessary to justify a second season.”
Caprica had a great premise and a fine cast.
The problem was the fact that the story was too frakking slow and even after the 1.5 season re-started it didn’t get better. Each episode was more boring and tedious than the next.
Yes WE WANT TO KNOW how the Cylons were created and make war on the colonies.
YES we want to know what happens…but that now doesn’t seem likely to happen — on TV at least.
If we could get a book or comic book of caprica or heck even a made for TV move – The First Cylon War – we’d be happy.
Yes Caprica deserved to be canceled, but it does leave those of us that did invest our time in the show with a really empty feeling – in terms of plot direction.
Sure there were some basic connections to Battlestar Galactica, but just like Starbuck being an Angel – Caprica just didn’t make sense.
On a positive note – we will get some BSG action – Blood and Chrome another BSG prequel has been greenlighted by SyFy.
Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, a sentient robotic race, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a brash rookie viper pilot enters the fray. Ensign William Adama, barely in his 20’s and a recent Academy graduate, finds himself assigned to the newest battlestar in the Colonial fleet… the Galactica. The talented but hot-headed risk-taker soon finds himself leading a dangerous top secret mission that, if successful, will turn the tide of the decade long war in favor of the desperate fleet.
Write in campaigns have started. A rabid fan has spoken and is trying to get people organized.
